  • 🚢Authorized and designed by count_of_brick.
  • 🚢Model Description: Designed and authorized by count_of_brick, this model is inspired by the WWII French fast battleship, Jean Bart. The product faithfully recreates intricate details and designs, including the Jean Bart’s main artillery, which consists of eight cannons concentrated in two quadruple turrets.
  • 🚢Background: The Jean Bart was a French fast battleship, the second and final ship of the Richelieu class. The Richelieu class was built as a response to Italy’s Littorio-class battleships. Jean Barts keel was laid in 1936, and she was launched after the outbreak of World War II in Europe in 1940. When Germany won the Battle of France, the ship was still incomplete and was urgently sent to Casablanca to avoid capture by advancing German forces.
On January 30, 1956, Jean Bart and her sister ship, Richelieu, embarked on their only joint cruise. In November 1956, Jean Bart participated in France’s intervention during the Suez Crisis, which included a brief four-round bombardment of Port Said. In August 1957, she was downgraded to reserve status and repurposed as a barracks ship until 1961. Jean Bart remained inactive in the French Navy's inventory until she was removed from the naval register in 1970 and sold for scrap.
